Dec 31, 2003 · "I" Beam vs. "H" beam Rods?? 57t bird..actually if the material is the same, the I beam is lighter and stronger than an H beam. Granted, the low end I beams are only good to about 600hp, but the better I beams are stronger and lighter than the H beams and can easily take 1000hp for the same price as a good H beam.
